God set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 1:22).
As a new believer in Christ, we are often given some external practices that is said to help us get started on our journey. We are told to read our Bible daily, pray to God daily and not to forsake the assembling of ourselves weekly. These are foundational principles that churches usually teach new converts. It’s all good, but there is one fundamental truth that I wish I was taught as a new believer; the Holy Spirit is real, He lives inside us, and we need to develop a relationship with Him.
Why is it important to get to know who Holy Spirit is? Well, it is His responsibility to take us to Jesus, Who in turn takes us to the Father. Holy Spirit reveals Jesus as the Way, the Truth and the Life, and we cannot circumvent the role and responsibility of the Holy Spirit, or try to get to the Father some other way. God said He will always be with us. Jesus said He will never forsake us. Jesus ascended, so Holy Spirit could descend, and we see a powerful demonstration of this on the day of pentecost. The Holy Spirit is ever present within our physical bodies, and we need to learn to engage Him by developing a conversation with Him. We can do this every moment of every day, and in doing so we involve Him in every aspect of our lives, and with every decision we make.
Start a conversation with Holy Spirit today, and seek to maintain it daily and I believe He will open up realms of possibilities, and divine, supernatural encounters that will break out naturally in and around our lives.
Father, I repent for ignoring Holy Spirit, or not engaging Him enough in my daily life. He is You and You are Him, and though there are Three, there really is only One, so today I start my conversation with Holy Spirit. I repent for my neglect and lack of understanding in this area, and I say, “Good morning (or Evening or Night) Holy Spirit.”
