You Are Forgiven

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins. (Colossians 2:13)

We have a tendency to class sin in different categories. It is interesting that the sin of fornication is considered one of the biggest sins, and lying a small sin. Yet in the book of Proverbs, there are seven sins listed that God hates and fornication is not named among them. Lying is! So if sin has classes, those we see as small are still enormous.

Fortunately, for us, God absolutely loves the sinner, so He found a way to punish sin and preserve the sinner. Not only that, but in His sovereignty He punished sins of the past, present, and future so we can live free from it. In essence, the sins you have not committed yet have already been paid for. It is done! It is finished! Does this mean we are free to sin? No, it doesn’t. It means provision is made for each time we mess up. It means we no longer sin from the perspective of being a sinner, but we sin as a child of God, and the Father never turns His back on a child.

Christ died for your sins so you can live as God’s righteousness. Accept His forgiveness. Wear it like a garment, because it’s a gift to you. Yes, we need to fight to put to death the sinful deeds of the body, but in fighting know that you belong to God, and He fights with you, not against you. Believe that you are forgiven and stop wasting precious thoughts on what God has absolutely no memory of. God remembers your sins no more! To be forgiven is to be declared righteous.

Prayer

Father, I repent and confess my sins to You, and ask that You forgive me. I am genuinely sorry for each thought, word and action that I do that is against Your nature and my true nature, and I am grateful that You have made provision for every time I mess up. Thank You Jesus, that You mediate on my behalf. Thank You Holy Spirit for the groaning, and heavenly language spoken when I am unable to articulate my desires. Thank You Lord, that I am forgiven, and I can walk in Your righteousness, In Jesus Name.
