Where Is The Lord?

He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and struck the waters and said, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the waters, they were divided here and there; and Elisha crossed over. (2 Kings 2:14)

There is so much trauma in our world today, that many people are asking what is happening; where is God? Surprisingly, we have more local churches and countless denominations worldwide than in any other time in our history since the days of the early church established by Jesus. We also have more pharmacies, medications, and doctors than at any other time in human history. So, why isn’t the world getting any better? Why are suicide rates so high? Why is the crime rate escalating? Why are marriages still failing miserably? Why are people getting sick and dying without explanation? Humanity is seeking for hope, especially families whose lives have been turned inside out due to trauma.

The systems of the world that we have depended on for so long is failing us miserably, and they are not taking any responsibility for it. We want something that actually works. Every member of every church need to contend for what is written in the Scriptures, and not step back until it becomes a reality. We must prove to the world that our God has spoken the truth, and it is still applicable today. I believe Mark 16:17-20 is still a relevant description of the church:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The church needs to once again be a beacon of hope for humanity; a place where people go to find hope, faith, love and relief from their ailments. We need to operate in the power and the demonstration of the Holy Spirit who indwells us as believers so the sick can be healed, the dead can be raised, and oppressed can find freedom.

Father, help me to rise up to my responsibility as a child of God. You have deposited Your Holy Spirit in me as a down payment for what is to come. So, I know I have the same access to the same power that Jesus and the early church operated in. I have not seen it demonstrated in my life yet, but as I decide today to contend for it, may You open up that supernatural realm to me in the name of Jesus.
