Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. (1 John 3:1)
It is hard to fathom the love of a perfect and holy God for people who seem so vile, corrupt, selfish and unworthy. Even the church has spent a lot of time convincing us of our unworthiness; that we are wretches, nothing but a worm worthy to be squashed, but I am of the opinion that despite our fallenness, and degerated consciousness, we are still very, very important to God, and when He looks at us, He sees our true value, even if we don’t. We are the apple of His eyes; a precious gem, an irreplacable treasure.
Yes, in the infinite possibilities of eternity, there may have been other failed creations before us. After all, God deciding to make humanity in His own image and likeness was always a risk due to free will. It is our ‘will’ that makes us more like God than anything else, because we can choose what to think, what to believe, what to pursue. I am shocked to see us use this infused ‘god-complex’ in such a negative way, to paint a weak and decrepit perception of humanity when creation itself screams at us to see to truth. We belong to God. He made us for Himself, and like Himself. We have more worth and value than we are willing to admit, it seems. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:20 that we were “…bought at a price.” Now who in their right mind would buy something at such a high price that has no value?
We are a reflection of God Himself. We cannot be likened to any other created being or thing. We are uniquely designed and created, fearfully and wonderfully made. Though we have been endowed with free will, we don’t belong to ourselves. We belong to God. We are His possession, created for His purpose.
Father, help me to see and understand that I am worth something to You. Holy Spirit, stir up the potential that lies within me that I may step into my divine appointment beginning today, and walk this earth as a manifested son of God, in Jesus Name.
